HOOPS NCAA March Madness(NCAAT)

I know USF isn't taking part of this year's NCAAT but there have been some great games already and upsets happen, and looking like it could continue. I think after watching a few games today, USF could have definitely taken part and would have represented themselves quite well.

Current Games of interest is Kentucky showing why they are one of the more weaker teams in defending the three. 14th seed Oakland leads 3rd seeded Kentucky by 5 pts. Oakland has a guy who has hit 9 threes in the game so far.

HOOPS '23 - '24 Bulls basketball season wrap-up and thoughts moving forward

First off I know the loss is fresh and losing the last home game to end the season sucked. However I still want to say that I'm feeling encouraged right now and surprisingly feeling good. I just want to thank this team of players for overachieving and our outstanding coaching staff, led by Coach Amir Abdur Rahim for getting every ounce of whatever these guys had out of them and putting something good in them. Nobody had this team winning nearly as many games as they did. I had them going .500 for the season period. They certainly outplayed expectations of fans and media. They started off poorly, but came together as one unit with one common goal, to go beyond their limits and achieve goals that many thought impossible. Frankly they came close to achieving all of them, except making the NCAAT. Setting records for consecutive wins(15), winning the 1st AAC regular season championship, and winning the most games ever in a season. Nothing to be ashamed of and I personally thank Placer, Miguel, and Hines for their contributions. May they go on to become successful in life doing something with basketball or with a great USF education.

Thoughts on the future:
CAAR isn't going anywhere, he never was, but it is good that his name at least got some mentions from the media which only helps him recruit better players to USF. I believe ADMK that they will come to a long term agreement to keep CAAR in place for a while to come.

Players:
USF has to get bigger, longer, and more athletic to take the next step, which is to win the AAC again and get into the NCAAT. Yes we will lose someone who we like to keep and some guys who just can't play at this level, but this is college basketball these days. I feel very confident in saying that CAAR will restock the roster and vastly improve it. If his system worked at Kennesaw State and worked with this bunch at USF, it will continue to work with new players. I'm not worried about who stays or goes.

HOOPS Some insight on CAAR rumors

Obviously ADMK is working hard to keep CAAR at USF and build for next year. The only job right now with any real heat that is seriously interested is Vanderbilt. Their AD loves CAAR per sources close to the Vandy program and is pushing the idea of him. Their money people want Chris Mack and think CAAR isn’t ready for the jump up yet and in their words hasn’t had to recruit kids who need strong academics to get into school. The money people don’t enjoy the free flowing offensive style either. Their words not mind. Don’t shoot the messenger.

My gut says Vandy after screwing around post-Stallings will go with Chris Mack who is a proven winner and also a bit of a dick like Stallings is. That worked there before.

Michigan guys are mentioning him a hair as a down the list guy. I don’t see that one happening.

I’ll keep you posted if anything of substance comes up but I feel pretty good about where USF stands with CAAR and he isn’t aching to jump by the way so even if another school offers him a job he might still not take it.

The one I was actually most concerned about was NC State because I heard his name there and they lack a lot of logical options if they fire Keatts but now he got a two-year automatic extension for winning the ACC Tournament so they are stuck.
