Jose Fernandez Becomes the All-Time AAC WBB Wins Leader

DALLAS (Feb. 4, 2023) (AP) — Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu scored 21 points, Sammie Puisis had a double-double, and No. 25/22 South Florida rallied past SMU 65-63 on Saturday.

USF coach Jose Fernandez won for the 119th time in the American Athletic Conference and passed UConn coach Geno Auriemma for first place on the conference list.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING National Signing Day 2.0

USF will sign multiple players today among those still yet to announce are Israel Carter the QB committed to ASU right now who will flip to USF, WR Jeyquan Smith who I expect to sign with USF and pass rusher Desirrio Riles who as of last night had not made his decision between Indiana, USF and ECU. Deejay Holmes another DE was a wild card as of last night and I would not be shocked to see a surprise or two.

HOOPS RECRUITING Bulls assistant Louis Rowe on the recruiting trail

USF assistant coach Louis Rowe was at Bartow HS tonight to watch Winter Haven (Isaac Celiscar) vs. Tampa Catholic (Isaiah Campbell-Finch).

Both hold offers from USF.

Winter Haven won the game.

I wasn't at the game but a source told me that Celiscar guarded Tampa Catholic five-star forward Karter Knox & held him to 9 points. If I'm not mistaken this is the first time this season that Karter Knox didn't score at least 10 points.

Celiscar is paying attention to USF because of Keyshawn Bryant, a Winter Haven HS alumnus but he is also paying attention to UCF because his brother plays football for the Knights. Baylor, who hasn't offered is Celiscar's dream school.
I'm waiting for more game info.

Israel Carter on why he picked USF...

"USF started recruiting me hard after I announced that I was delaying my signing day from ASU. Since then I established a great relationship with the entire staff. Coach Golesh helped develop my man Hendon Hooker and after texting with him throughout the whole weekend I knew that I was making the right decision I cannot wait to get to Tampa and get the city rockin'."

HOOPS Brian Gregory post game (radio) interview after SMU loss

Were you trying to get the ball to Serrel Smith Jr. on the final play...

Well, we had both to him and Tyler coming. We had Keyshawn underneath the basket so if they got filtered out with with 3.8 to go enough time to take a dribble make a pass and get his shot. You know, they made a good play. He was open. He was open on that.

Maybe you know with with just under four probably maybe could have taken another dribble to make that pass as opposed on on the first one. And we got to catch that ball a little bit more in the middle of the of the court as opposed to the sideline because when we got it on that sideline, it kind of takes the right side out of the out of the play. You know what I mean? And Tyler's better coming off his left foot so that's why he's going that way. Serrel going the other way, and you got Keyshawn underneath.

So, when he gets that amount of time, you're able to have three guys available. So very similar to the play we ran in the Cincinnati game where he gets the ball in the middle he's got options you know this time, we just didn't didn't execute it. To be honest, we we executed because the most important thing in that play guys, is to get Cory to ball. Yeah, you know what I mean? And then everybody kind of turns and looks at him. And he had a couple guys, you know, open underneath. We just got to now the next part of the plays got it delivered the next pass.
