It's Senior Night for USF.

Please keep all chatter in this thread.

Serrel Smith Jr., Tyler Harris, Jake Boggs, Jamir Chaplin and Mark Calleja are the players who will be honored before tonight's game. Boggs and Chaplin both have another season of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Calleja joined the team for the 2018-19 season as a walk-on and earned a scholarship prior to last season.

Also honored tonight are senior team managers Brandon Buckman, Christian Fiore, Alex Kirschner and Dan Thompson.

I doubt any of you know who the managers are but I wanted to mention them because each of them have helped me in some waicy or another during their time with the program. In fact, many of the times I've attended practice it has been one of the managers who let me in the building.

USF Athletics Announces Partnership With Athlete Network To Connect Current And Former USF Student-Athletes

Digital platform will provide a hub for connecting, building and maintaining relationships among current and former Bulls

TAMPA, FEB. 28, 2023 – University of South Florida Athletics today announced a new partnership with Athlete Network with a goal of uniting current and former USF student-athletes through an exclusive new branded digital platform.

The Athlete Network platform will provide access to a centralized hub where past and present student-athletes can maintain and build relationships with each other and USF Athletics.

“We are thrilled to partner with Athlete Network in order to grow and strengthen our engagement with former USF student-athletes,” Vice President of Athletics Michael Kelly said. “This relationship makes it easier than ever to support and assist our most loyal Bulls—for life!”

Through Athlete Network’s digital platform, USF Athletics will efficiently expand its reach to a greater number of former student-athletes, offering support and communication while providing a space for them to connect with each other.

“This centralized hub is an innovative resource for former and current student-athletes from South Florida to fully embrace the true mission, vision, and core values of the athletics department, and it brings it all to life,” said Carlton Rice, assistant athletic director/student-athlete enhancement.

Along with expanding communication and engagement opportunities for USF student-athletes, the Athlete Network software will also immediately provide cutting edge data insights and reporting to athletics administrators, expand career resources, and cultivate relationships among all generations of Bulls.

“Getting this network up and running will be something that will help us connect our current and former student-athletes and bring us together to accomplish our goals as a whole for South Florida Athletics,” said Lindsay Brauer, development specialist and former USF women’s soccer player.

Louis Nye, 92; Comedian Coined Phrase ‘Hi-Ho, Steverino’ During Appearances on ‘Steve Allen Show’
OCT. 11, 2005 12 AM PT

Comedian Louis Nye, who created a national catchphrase by belting out “Hi-ho, Steverino!” as one of the players on Steve Allen’s groundbreaking 1950s TV show, has died. He was 92.
Nye died Sunday at his home in Los Angeles after a long battle with lung cancer, his son, Peter Nye, told Associated Press on Monday.
Nye had worked regularly in nightclubs and on television until just a couple of years ago, his son said. He had a recurring role from 2000 to 2002 in the HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as the father of Jeff Garlin’s character.
When he joined Allen’s show in 1956, he was well-established as one the era’s hippest comics, appearing regularly on radio, in clubs and on early TV shows.
On “The Steve Allen Show,” which ran until 1961 under various names, he quickly endeared himself to audiences as Gordon Hathaway, the effete country-club snob who would welcome Allen’s arrival with the “Hi-ho, Steverino!” salutation.

HOOPS On Conwell's recent performances

Sometimes its like riding a roller coaster with freshmen but Ryan Conwell appears to have broken out of his shooting slump and it is a good thing to see.

In the Bulls' last four games, Conwell is shooting 53.8% from the field and 85.7% from the free throw line. He is also 10-of-17 beyond the arc (58.8%). The freshman is averaging 23.75 minutes, 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 turnovers in those four games.

Conwell's conference-only shooting stats for the season are: 38.0% FG, 36.6% 3FG (No. 14 in the AAC), 80.0% FT.

The thing I like about Conwell is his composure. Unless you look at him right after a play happens, I can't tell if USF is comfortably ahead, ahead, but facing adversity, behind but close or getting blown out.

Defenses have tried to rattle him and speed him up but he stays under control.

He is very methodical in how he approaches his business. Whether it is before practice or during pre-game, Conwell has a specific routine that he goes through. It doesn't matter the outcome of the Bulls most recent game, he sticks to his routine. Sometimes right before he begins his routine before practice he'll come over say hello and dap me up but never before a game. Once he walks through the tunnel into the arena, Conwell is locked in.

HOOPS GAME THREAD: USF vs. SMU

It's Salute To Service Night and Chucky Atkins Night at Yuengling Center where the Bulls go up against SMU. USF hasn't beaten SMU since March 2020.

Every player on the roster appears to be available tonight except for Trey Moss who redshirted after the Bulls' eighth game.

The game is on ESPN+. Tipoff slated for 7 p.m. ET.

Please keep all game chatter in this thread.

Ole Miss fires basketball coach

Looks like they are trying to get a head start until waiting until the final four like most schools traditionally do.

Would be smart to get Chris Beard if they can before others jump in the mix.

My guess USF will wait and go the traditional route and look at the final four meetings and then have to compete with a plethora of openings. Hopefully we are at least working back channels right now.
