Here is a look at what's going on with some of USF's top targets according to my sources
The staff had QB target Octavious Battle in for camp this month and they thought he was pretty raw, like Flowers raw but had some stuff they could work with and they will continue recruiting him. USF is still pushing hard for Michael Penix who camped this month as well, he is the #1 QB target, but he obviously committed to Tennessee, but Butch Jones is in major trouble, so they are staying on it.
OL target Donovan Jennings is supposed to come over to USF for a visit July, he was supposed to visit this week, but they pushed it back. They should be able to close him in July if they really want him, but there are others like Adonis Boone and Kenneth Horsey higher on the board right now.
USF is in a battle with some Ivy League schools for DE target Anthony Nelson. Nelson is big on USF and could be the first DE commit for the 2018 class.
One of the backs USF is pushing hard for at RB is Caleb Steward from Ed White HS. USF made his top 5 last week along with Duke, Purdue, Wake Forest and VaTech.
USF has put RB/WR Ty Thompson on the back burner for now, he has an offer, but they are going to wait and see where things stand with guys higher on the board right now. USF is also in the back part of the top 10 for RB Malcolm Davidson who announced his 10 finalists earlier this month.
The Bulls made the top 10 for Jeshaun Jones a WR from South Fort Myers last week. Georgia, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State, Oregon, Tennessee, VaTech and USF made the list for Jones.
Alabama based TE target Michael Parker picked up an offer from Auburn the other day, but he says he is going to visit USF in July.
S target Kendrick Torain had knee surgery and that has slowed his recruitment down, teams are wanting to see how he looks in the open period in the fall before pushing him for a commit. USF is in a good spot with him if they want him down the line.
Another safety USF likes but is waiting on is Jontrey Hunter who didn't have a great JR year, but is great in drills and looks the part. Want to see more production from him in the fall and it is a position they can be flexible on.
Atlanta LB Antonio Grier said that he will visit USF in July. Marshall is high on his list as well.
USF is out of the mix for DE target Mayan Ahanotu and DT target Aaron Morgan from Carol City. Morgan committed to Miss State today.
