Thought it'd be fun to look at some Bulls in the pros. You might be able call us Relief Pitcher U in a few years. An interesting trend in the minors is organizations don't mind starting guys out as a relievers- not starting in the lower levels used to be a kiss of death, but now relievers routinely spend their entire career in the bullpen:

Danny Otero looks like he'll be a key reliever in Cleveland again this year. Had a rough season last year, but curiously he doubled his K/BB rate. He also doubled his HRs allowed, so cutting down on flyballs could help.

Austin Adams has had cups of coffee in the past two years. Looks like he's in the mix in Washington for a bullpen spot.

Kevin Quackenbush is in the Dodgers system now. He's in the big league camp, but looks like a long shot to make the team.

Jimmy Herget is Keith Law's 16th prospect in the Reds system, MLB's 18th, and 20th in Fangraphs. He's in big league camp this year and will probably get the call at some point.

Kevin Merrell did not make Law's or MLB's list of A's prospects, and Fangraphs hasn't published yet. He hit with a wet noodle last year and will need to show at least doubles power to be a prospect again.

Shane McClanahan is Law's 14th prospect in the Rays system and 20th on Fangraphs. MLB is publishing the top 10 systems day-by-day and the Rays will be published tomorrow as a top 3 system. Fangraphs has him as a 2020 ETA, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually 2021. Lots of guys think he's a reliever in the future.

Tommy Eveld is in the Marlins' "big-league" camp as a non-roster invitee. Maybe he'll get on the 40 man at some point. Will be a reliever.

Keep an eye on the following:

David Villar- Hit .282 with 13 homers last season and the Giants' system is terrible.

Phoenix Sanders- 3.08 ERA with 89 Ks in 64.1 innings. Got lit up in the Arizona Fall League though. Is a reliever.

Andrew Barbosa- 2.59 ERA with a strikeout per inning. A long ways away and is a reliever.

Brandon Lawson- made it to AA as a starter, but seems to have shifted to relief once there. He is not on Fangraphs top 54 prospects for the Rays.

There are other active pros, but these are the most interesting guys for the time being. There is no reason why USF should not routinely be cranking out big leaguers. Stetson has Corey Kluber and Jacob deGrom and FGCU has Chris Sale. Hell, until recently, Florida Southern had more active minor leaguers than us.
