While CBG has done a more than admiral job rebuilding the program after the Antigua disaster, will he continue to have support if his team underachieves again?
Again CBG has been a great fire fighter for USF, but he is a flawed coach who can never seem to get the talent he has assembled to reach their potential. This is a team that should make at worst a deep run in the NIT or receive an NCAAT at-large bid. Everyone on this roster is his - no more excuses.
- The CBI Championship tentatively covered the stench of a 2-7 regular season finish, and an offense that routinely blew leads and struggled in the half-court
- Last season's team had a built-in excuse to underachieve with the losses of Yetna and Kirr early, but that team managed to blow 11 second half leads, with alot of the same issues present when Yetna was on the court the prior season
- Covid and the unique dynamic at play will likely be another built-in excuse for any underachievement we see this year, as half court offense and lack of shooting continues to be an issue, with a drop in defensive effectiveness a new issue
