USF has been in touch with Samford sophomore forward Robert Allen. Allen, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward entered the transfer portal about a week ago. He is a sit one/play two transfer unless he were to get a waiver. Allen is from Orlando and attended Edgewater HS. He averaged 14 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season as well as one block and one steal per game.
Allen was quite impressive against Alabama scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing three assists and blocking two shots in 35 minutes of playing time.
Allen shot 43.3 percent from the field this season (47.1% 2FG and 29.1% 3FG).
Other programs recruiting Allen include College of Charleston, FIU, Georgetown, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Murray State, Saint Louis and VCU.
From what I recall of him in HS, Allen was an enthusiastic player who competed hard at both ends of the court. He was long and ran the floor well, wasn't flashy but he got the job done. He had mostly LM and MM offers out of high school.
I've reached out to Allen to talk with him about his transfer recruitment but have not yet heard back from him.
