USF Men's Basketball Falls in a 40-Minute Battle with FAU on Senior Day

Jayden Reid each tallied his 20th game in double figures



TAMPA, Fla., March 2, 2025 – Before Sunday’s game inside the Yuengling Center, the University of South Florida men’s basketball team honored Quincy Ademokoya, Jamille Reynolds, and Brandon Stroud for Senior Day. South Florida battled in-state foe Florida Atlantic for 40 minutes. Jayden Reid led the Bulls (13-17, 6-11) with 16 points as three USF players finished in double figures but fell to the Owls (16-13, 9-7) 69-63.



Reid posted his 20th game in double figures behind a 16-point effort. He added four rebounds, a game-high four assists, and tied for a game-high three steals. CJ Brown and Kobe Knox both finished with 12 points. Brown tied for a game-high four assists to go along with one steal and one rebound. Knox added three rebounds and three steals. Stroud brought down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with five points, three steals, and one assist.



FAU opened the game on a 16-6 run. Later in the first half, USF answered with an 8-0 and cut the deficit to three, 19-16. The Bulls held the Owls scoreless during the run for 4:19. Florida Atlantic ended the half on a 10-4 run and took a 34-25 lead into the break.



The Bulls forced 12 turnovers in the first half, which led to six fastbreak points. Reid opened the game 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 1-for-1 from 3-point range. Stroud had a team-high five rebounds, while Daniel Tobiloba collected four rebounds.



The Owls held their largest lead of the night, 48-30, with 15:06 left in regulation. With FAU leading 60-44, USF went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to seven, 60-53. Reid and Kobe Knox both made 3-pointers during the 3:33. With just under a minute remaining in the game, South Florida cut the deficit to six, 69-63. FAU held off the USF comeback attempt and won 69-63.



Key Stats:

• The USF bench outscored the FAU bench 23-11. It is the 24th time the South Florida bench has outscored its opponent’s bench this season.

• The Bulls produced 13 steals, which led to 17 points off turnovers and 15 fastbreak points.

• South Florida forced 19 turnovers, which is tied for the second most this season.



Notables:

• Jayden Reid tallied his 20th game in double figures with 16 points. It was his sixth straight game in double digits.

• CJ Brown and Kobe Knox both produced 12 points. For Knox, it was his 17th game in double figures, while Brown recorded his sixth game in double digits.
