Comes to USF with 40 career starts and 156 career points

TAMPA, Fla., June 14, 2024 – University of South Florida Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Mindy McCord announced the addition of transfer Sydney McClure (Marietta, Ga.), an all-conference attacker from Coastal Carolina, as USF continues to strengthen its roster ahead of its inaugural competition season in 2024-25.

McClure comes to USF having scored 156 career points – including 87 goals and 69 assists – in 40 career starts during stints at Coastal Carolina (2023-24) and Furman (2021-22). A former all-state performer at Lassiter High School, McClure earned First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors last year as she helped lead Coastal to a 14-6 record, the program’s first conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She logged 43 goals (shooting .531), 33 assists and 76 points for the Chanticleers on the year.

“Sydney was the dominant force on Coastal Carolina’s championship team this year, and she came to us looking for more,” McCord said. “Her attitude is perfect for helping us establish Bulls Nation as a household name in women’s lacrosse. We have known Syd since she was a kid playing youth lacrosse in the Lassiter Trojan program. She’s always been someone we’ve been proud of, scoring 156 points in just three seasons.”

McClure joins three all-conference defensive transfer additions for the Bulls in the spring, including two-time Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the YearCarolina Gallagher (D, Cabrini University), ASUN Defensive Player of the Year Paige Pagano (GK, Jacksonville University, and Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year Mikaela Ness (D, Missouri Western State).

The Bulls have a full roster training and competing on campus and used the 2023-24 season as a training year. USF will begin NCAA Division I competition playing in the American Athletic Conference starting in February of 2025.
