Sophomore forward Jonathan Laurent is transferring from Rutgers. Laurent, who graduated from Dr. Phillips HS in Orlando, was recruited by Brian Gregory at Georgia Tech. Laurent told me tonight that he has not heard from USF yet, but he just received his release from Rutgers and the USF staff is preoccupied with official visitors this weekend.
We will keep on the look out to see if USF reaches out to Laurent.
I had been expecting this ever since Rutgers season ended in March but Laurent was very quiet about things. Last night I heard from a good source that he would be transferring and posted that on the Rutgers premium board. Now that it is official, and has been reported by someone who covers Rutgers basketball for a NJ newspaper, I'm comfortable posting about Laurent here.
Stan Heath showed some interest in Laurent back in the day, but never offered.
