Updated to include last night's barn burner:

  • Rank #357 (second worst) in D1 for 3 point shooting %
  • Rank #354 in effective field goal shooting
  • Rank #351 in points per game
  • Rank #348 in shooting %
  • Rank #334 in Offensive Efficiency
  • Rank #324 in D1 in 2 point shooting %
  • Rank #321 in assist per game
  • Rank #291 in D1 for free throw shooting %
When we think about who on the team is contributing to these numbers consider these slash lines (FG%/3P%/FT%) in order of most to fewest attempted field goals:
  • Caleb Murphy - 43%/55%/0% (Net 88%)
  • Javon Greene - 34%/79%/30% (Net 143%)
  • Jamir Chaplin - 33%/75%/15% (Net 123%)
  • Jake Boggs - 37%/100%/28% (Net 165%) - this is overinflated because he is a career 77% free throw shooter and has 4-of-4 from the line this year
  • DJ Patrick - 26%/67%/27% (Net 120%)
  • USF All - 37%/66%/22% (Net 125%)
  • D1 Average - 43%/71%/33% (Net 147%)
Caleb Murphy is the easiest player on this team to defend against - he is 0-for-8 from 3 point range this season - that's right he hasn't made a single 3 pointer this season. You can leave him alone out there because he won't take the shot and if he doesn't he won't make it. Add in that his primary moves are one hard dribble to the right and pull up from 19 feet OR drive to his right to the basket and he becomes much easier to defend due to his predictability. Until his game becomes more diversified (generating offense going to his left), running our offense through him will continue to choke the entire offense.

Murphy is playing like a small forward in a point guard body and role.
