It's official, the Big 12 is taking names for expansion. Some interesting points...
1. They haven't decided if it will be 2 or 4
2. The ACC getting a network was a major catalyst.
3. Football only additions is an option
We're looking at the fan base; we're looking at access to media markets. And also we're very much looking at the reputations of these institutions for integrity. We're looking at the academic standards of these universities, the level of research and teaching at these institutions.
Based off of what Bowlsby said above, I would say USF may have a decent chance. Texas has stated that research is an important factor. ISU and Kansas have reiterated that, and out of everyone mentioned USF is the highest ranked research school. Market wise we are In a very strong position.... And with the Baylor mess, I like that they added "integrity" as a measurement.... That's one area UCF will have a severe issue considering they don't get off probation till next year.
