I like someone says Barnett will finally realize his five star potential. If that is the case that will be huge. To many people are ignoring our returning skilled position players on offense. They’re ignoring we’re adding Cronkrite to replace our backfield, a highly productive back at UF that has been tearing things up at practice. They’re ignoring the huge end of seasons Salomon and McCants had when Gilbert found out how to use McCants at his best. They ignore we have the top returning TE in the AAC.
On defense we lost a lot up front but we return so many starting caliber DE’s, and DT is gonna be full of more quality bodies with the Duke transfers. They ignore that McGee had an amazing end of the season when he moved to LB, and that Sawtelle is a natural player to take over for Sanchez but brings a bit more athleticism , and our defensive backfield is still loaded with starters in Hoggins, Wilkins, and Thomas who were all highly impactful last season.
Everyone expects us to take a step backward, but if the one prediction about Barnett is correct I think we take a step forward. I think we are going surprise people positively if Barnett comes out firing.
