This is a mini-Rumor Mill because I’ve got a Rivals transfer portal meeting in less than 10 minutes then I have to leave for Orlando for the NCAA tournament.
A very reliable and connected source spoke to someone who is in touch with Rick Pitino. That person told my source that Pitino-to-USF “ain’t happening. Pitino wants a job with lots of exposure. He can always visit Florida and his friend Chris Sullivan, like he has been doing.”
My source also spoke with someone who talked to Tennessee Associate HC Justin Gainey. Gainey confirmed to this person that he is involved with USF and that he has spoken with someone (no name given) at USF. Gainey told my source’s guy that the USF search is “wide open” and that he expects USF to hold as many as “ten interviews.”
My source’s guy also spoke with USC Associate HC Chris Capko and confirmed that Capko is involved with USF.
My source’s guy also confirmed that former Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin is in the mix with USF.
