Like many, I was, and remain, a Jim Leavitt fan. I know he hasn't coached here in 5 seasons but I always had a problem closing the chapter on CJL. I did not want CJL go in 2009 but was willing and did welcome Skip. However, in 2010, despite the 8 win season, I still wanted CJL back because I thought he deserved better and that the team could have done better that season. In 2011-12 my anger grew with Skip as we watched him fritter away all the progress and growth the program had made.
In 2013 we welcomed CWT. Still part of me wished CJL was coaching here. In 2013-14 watching the program struggle I wondered "what if CJL had never been fired?" Now in 2015, after the season we had I am finally moving on. No more "what if" about CJL, no more wishing he still coached here. I'll always appreciate what CJL did but the present and future under CWT is what I always hoped and thought the program could be. No guarantees obviously on the future but I am ready to fully close the CJL chapter of USF football history and move forward in this chapter.
