The AAC top 6 teams are loaded next year!
All have upgraded their OOC schedule
With most of the talent and experience returning for the top 6 AAC teams, and Cincy, Uconn, Memphis, SMU, Temple each bringing 2 top 150 impact players a piece plus 3 stars on top of that.
Looking at the blogs and writers, most believe that SMU along with UCONN and Temple are going to vie for top team in conference next year. SMU talent next year is ridiculous and of course Larry Brown, plus they get Tech transfer Jordan Tolbert and Duke Transfer Semi Ojeleye. Cincy only loses 1 player Sanders from NCAA tourney team that battled UK for a half and they get Mick Cronin back! UCONN and Temple suffer one loss each in Boatwright and Cummings but they return everyone else.
I do find it encouraging that Joe Lunardi already has 4 AAC teams projected in the tourney next year: SMU (7), UC (8), Temple (11), UConn (12, play in)
Memphis could be the most talented team in the conference. They will have one of the deepest and best front courts in nation in all conference bigs Austin Nichols and Shaq Goodwin. They will have a top 25 player in nation backing one up in one Lawson twin, and another near top 50 the other Lawson backing up the other of forward spots. Woodson coming off bench, and soph Markel Crawford at SG ready to take off. I'd Pastner can coach them up they have talent to play close to anyone in nation or conference. Tulsa returns every single starter from a team that one 23 games!
That's SMU, UCONN, Temple, Cincy, Memphis, ad Tulsa could get make NCAAS if they win OOC games with the ooc schedule they have. That would be 6 of 11 teams best case scenario and 4 worst case.
According to Rivals.com the AAC has 10 Rivals 150 recruits coming in next year.
Those 10 are distributed over 5 schools in the conference.
Cincy- #98, #114 (3)
Uconn- #26, #60 (2)
Memphis- #27, #56 (3)
SMU- #68 #127 (3)
Temple- #106, #121 (3)
Cincy, Memphis, SMU, and Temple also bring in another *** star player each in their classes.
All these classes are very good classes.
Now the rest
UCF- Very solid class 4 *** star players with multiple P5 offers (very solid class) (4)
USF- 3 *** star players, one not evaluated (4)
ECU- 2 non rated recruits (2)
Houston- 2 *** star recruits, one not evaluated (3)
Tulane- 2 *** star recruits, one not evaluated (3)
Tulsa- 2 *** star recruits (2)
I see the AAC
1 SMU
2 UCONN
3 Temple
4 Cincy
5 Memphis
6 Tulsa
7 USF
8 UCF
9 Houston
10 Tulane
11 ECU
With USF making the NIT next year as 5th worst team or 7th best team in conference. That should be pretty easy and reasonable ahead of weak teams like UCF, Houston, Tulane, and ECU they play twice while stealing a couple from top 6. Outside of UK, easy ooc schedule for USF. Harlan said he purposeful lined up easier schedule for USF basketball to get some wins and build program till they can tackle tougher ooc schedule.
