Back in September I got a text from a source in North Carolina asking if I knew John Ojiako.
Following a "pretty good year," according to his Admiral Farragut Head Coach, Ojiako holds offers from FGCU, FAU, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, LSU, Pitt and Rhode Island. The last four offers I listed all came between April 29-May 4.
USF has been quietly monitoring Ojiako, including two weekends ago in Kansas City, MO in the Under Armour Association (UAA), where he played for Maryland-based Team Thrill.
In four UAA games Ojiako averaged 8.75 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 20.5 minutes per game. He made 84 percent of his field goals, was 2-of-2 beyond the arc, 1-of-2 at the free throw line.
At this point I'm expecting Farragut to be invited to the USF Team Camp in June and for Ojiako to be invited to the USF Elite Camp, which I anticipate being held in August.
As usual, I will keep you updated if something develops.
