Looks like I got some bad info on Green being close to committing to UCF. However, UCF is in the top tier of schools that are recruiting him.
Of the schools that are recruiting him Green listed UCF, Furman, Cal State Fullerton, USF, George Washington and James Madison as his "top schools" right now.
Cal State Fullerton: They were Green's first offer and they have remained consistent in their recruitment of him. Green said that the CS-Fullerton coaches told him that they are going to make it hard for him to tell them "No" and he said they are living up to that.
USF: Green was a little salty that a school 3,000 miles away from him offered long before USF did, but he did acknowledge that the current coaching staff is showing him love. In fact Green said he spoke to USF head coach Brian Gregory a few minutes before I called him.
UCF: Green said he hears from the Knights the most. All of the coaches are recruiting him so he knows that he is a priority. He describes the staff as "real genuine guys" and that he hears from them at least twice a week.
GW: His father played there and Green has been on campus multiple times and likes it there.
James Madison: The head coach at JMU, Louise Rowe, is from St. Pete and attended Lakewood H.S. He recruited Florida hard as an assistant at JMU, FIU and Bowling Green and continues to do so as the head coach at JMU. Green has a good relationship with him, but Rowe has only won 20 games in two seasons. He needs to show improvement in the program or he may not be there much longer.
Furman: He didn't offer any insight about his recruitment from Furman, but he does have a relationship with a player on that team.
I told Green that a few weeks ago a source informed me that he was close to committing. He seemed surprised to hear that, had a nice laugh about it and said that he will "start narrowing things down after AAU season" ends in late July.
Zack Dawson will be eligible when Green would be a freshman so I no longer feel that Green is as big of a priority as he may have been a few weeks ago. But that is just my opinion, only Coach Gregory knows for sure and he is still recruiting Green.
