Mr. Auggie Sanchez took a lot of heat last year, somewhat unwarranted because he was a leading tackler and made lots of plays, but was playing in a defensive scheme that had a lot of the kids struggling in at times. I am going to tell you this defense may fit Auggie like a glove. I re-watched that FAMU game last night and my man was flying around, he showed very good speed, and footwork too....he was coming up, running downhill and making plays. While I get this is FAMU again, it wasn't necessary the number of plays that impressed me, but what he was doing...making one on one open field tackles with ease, knocking back all ball carriers, coming to the point of attack with ferocity, and lets not forget he was calling all the defensive plays.
When you see his play, and take into account his added responsibility as defensive playcaller....I think we might be looking at a break-out season for Auggie. This defense won't require him to be in nearly as much coverage as he had to do in 3-4, which should suit him just fine.
