That was a difficult night for me last night. USF had a true freshman gal smack a two run homer in her first collegiate game in the bottom of the seventh to beat Illinois State. I know both coaches well and I really like them both. I've known Kenny for over 30 years. When I was an advisor in the College of Education at USF I would meet with all his recruits who were interested in teaching. Kenny used to be in a group of us who worked out at lunch time. He was a very competitive jogger on those days that we ran. 
I have known Melinda Fischer the ISU coach for 10 years. We served on the ISU athletics council together. I have had many of her players in courses I have taught here at ISU. Melinda is a class individual and a good coach. I felt really bad for her and the Lady Birds. They lead the entire game until the bottom of the seventh heroics.
Happy for Kenny and the Lady Bulls. Sad for Melinda. That's life.
