While I was binge watching old seasons of 24, USF offered Dr. Phillips point guard Denzel Aberdeen.
Aberdeen has been one of the hottest names on the east coast since the scholastic live periods last month picking up offers from Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, VCU, Murray State, FAU, Illinois, Mississippi, Georgia State, Wofford, Jacksonville, and FIU since June 10.
He helped lead Dr. Phillips to a 24-3 record and the FHSAA 7A state championship. The Panthers three losses were to Oak Ridge HS (avenged in the 7A semifinals), West Orange HS and someplace called Montverde Academy. During the spring and in July Aberdeen is with SE Elite Grassroots Academy (formerly known as Team Parsons). They are an adidas 3SSB program. Louis Rowe was helping to coach the SE Elite Grassroots Academy 17U team that Aberdeen is on so expect Rowe to spearhead this recruitment.
I watched Dr. Phillips four times last season but only once in person. I like this offer. Aberdeen is a shifty, lanky lead guard with positional size. He is a streaky shot maker with range. Aberdeen is not a jet but he can get the ball where it needs to go and has a pretty good feel for the game.
