Oak Ridge guard Jalen Smith is someone who USF has been monitoring since at least last summer. I noticed Bulls assistant Larry Dixon keeping an eye on him when I was at an Oak Ridge workout last September and Smith's HS Coach told me that Dixon and Tom Herrion watched Smith during the high school season.
Last week assistant coach Scott Wagers saw Smith in Phoenix at the West Region NCAA Academy, and earlier tonight USF offered Smith.
Smith was at the USF Elite Camp last August and I expect to see him at the Elite Camp next month.
Smith is a high academic and highly skilled guard with a high basketball IQ. He has a low shot release but he can really shoot it. His physical development and growth will determine his potential. Oh, and Jalen Smith is quite bouncy. Smith’s father was a very good small college player.
