USF Men’s Basketball Takes On FAU in Nationally Televised Contest on ESPN2

TAMPA, Fla. (February 1, 2025) – The University of South Florida men’s basketball team takes to the road for an in-state showdown with Florida Atlantic on Sunday, February 2.The Bulls (11-10, 4-4) and the Owls (11-10, 4-4) are scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip on ESPN2 on Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. With the American Athletic Conference portion of the schedule closing in on the midway mark, USF and FAU are battling inside the top six spots in the conference standings.



Nine Players with 130 Points

The Bulls have nine players with at least 130 points this season, most in DI. They are the first AAC team to have that many players reach the 130-point mark through 21 games of a season all-time.



Stout Long-Range Defense

The Bulls have held opponents to 31.2 percent from 3-point range. USF is tied for 73rd in the NCAA and fourth in the AAC in 3-point defense.



Getting Out in Transition

South Florida is 18th in the nation and third in the conference with 14.86 fastbreak points per game.



Strong Bench

The Bulls are 43rd in the NCAA and third in the AAC, averaging 27.71 bench points per game. The USF bench has only been outscored five times this season. South Florida is holding opponents to 17.90 bench points per game. The South Florida bench is shooting 77.7 percent from the free-throw line, which is 21st in the NCAA and second in the AAC.

Jayden Reid leads the squad with 12.4 points per game. He has a team-best 77 assists and a team-high 34 steals. He has one block on the season. Jamille Reynolds is second on the team with 11.6 points per contest. He leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. He is 54th in the NCAA and second in the AAC with 5.94 defensive rebounds per game. He paces the team with 23 blocks. He has 15 assists and six steals. Kobe Knox rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.9 points per contest. He has 30 assists, 13 steals, and five blocks.



Brandon Stroud is second on the squad with 4.6 rebounds per game. He is second on the team with 31 assists. He averages 7.8 points with 41 assists and one block. De’Ante Green is third on the team, averaging 4.5 rebounds per contest. He averages 6.4 points per game with 15 assists, 12 blocks, and three steals. CJ Brown is second on the team with 15 blocks. He averages 6.9 points per game with 39 assists and 28 steals. Kasen Jennings is second on the squad with 45 assists. He averages 8.0 points per contest and has 14 steals.



History with Florida Atlantic

The Bulls and Owls will meet for the 18th time on Sunday. USF has won the last three matchups, including a 90-86 victory in Tampa on February 18, 2024. The Bulls are 3-2 against the Owls in Boca Raton.



USF has a 15-2 (.882) record against Florida Atlantic over the last 35 seasons (since 1990-91). That is the Bulls’ second-best record against any opponent (minimum of 10 games) over that time frame, behind a 15-1 (.938) record against Stetson.
