…Jaylen Carey of Westminster Academy. Source I spoke with would only say that USF is “recruiting” Carey. I reached out to Carey earlier this afternoon but he has not replied.

I have only seen game video of Carey but he is a strong forward, soft hands & good footwork. His mobility and his ability to play harder longer has improved as he has dropped weight. Carey has good touch with either hand around the rim and can step out to make an open jumper. He also sets some teeth rattling screens.

As for his size, I've seen him consistently listed at 265-pounds but I've seen his height listed at 6-foot-8, 6-foot-9 and 6-foot-10. I'm waiting to hear back from WA head coach Ehren Wallhoff to get some clarity on Carey’s HT & WT and on Carey’s recruitment.

Carey's brother, Vernon Carey Jr. was one-and-done at Duke and the No. 32 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. His father, Vernon Sr. was an OT for the Dolphins from 2004–2011.
