TAMPA, Nov. 16, 2018– University of South Florida head men’s basketball coach Brian Gregory announced the signing of B.J. Mack (Charlotte, N.C.) to a National Letter of Intent on Friday.

A 6-foot-7 forward at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, Mack is ranked as a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and chose the Bulls over offers from Ole Miss, ECU, Arkansas, James Madison and DePaul.

Mack, who played his first two years of high school in the state of North Carolina, averaged 11 points and five rebounds as a freshman at Charlotte Catholic High School in the 2014-15 season, helping the Cougars to 32-1 overall record while claiming their first conference title and state championship in school history. Mack piled up postseason awards and was named second team all-conference, third team all-state, Third Team Max Preps and Freshman All-American.

He upped his season averages to 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Charlotte Christian School during the 2015-16 season, leading the Knights to a 22-8 overall record and an 11-win increase from the season before. Mack was tabbed first team all-conference and first team all-state at the end of the year.

He joined Team CP3 and became the only player in Peach Jam history to play in back-to-back title games after helping the team to a 38-2 record. Last season, he averaged 13 points and seven rebounds as a member of Team CP3. So far this season, Mack has helped Oak Hill Academy to a perfect 5-0 record.

“B.J. is a versatile big man who will fit in well with our system,” Gregory said. “He comes from Oak Hill Academy, which is a world-renowned basketball program under Coach Steve Smith, and has improved in both years that he’s been there. I really like his ability to shoot and rebound the ball. He’s got a great feel from the game, he can really pass and move the ball, and I think his versatility is his greatest strength.”
