TAMPA, JUNE 4, 2024 – University of South Florida Athletics continues to see student-athletes produce academic success at high levels as the Bulls had all 16 rated programs post a 965 or better multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR), including 13 over 974, when the NCAA released its most recent data.

With nine teams posting perfect single-year APR scores and five posting perfect multi-year scores, all of the Bulls teams were safely above the NCAA’s minimum APR standard score of 930. USF posted an overall average score of 989 for the 2022-23 academic year.

Six programs set or equaled a program record and 10 had multi-year scores over 990. The NCAA’s 2024 multi-year APR scores comprise data from the previous four academic years.

“USF student-athletes are accomplishing great things in the classroom as they pursue their academic goals and future aspirations,” Vice President of Athletics Michael Kelly said. “The student-athlete experience at USF is second to none. I am very proud of our commitment to academic success, the leadership of our Academic Services staff and coaches, and our outstanding academic facilities that continue to support success in the classroom.”

Men’s cross country, men’s tennis, women’s basketball, women’s golf and women’s tennis equaled program records by posting perfect multi-year scores of 1,000, while men’s soccer equaled its program-best posted last year with a score of 993.

It marked the 10th-straight and 13th overall perfect score for women’s golf, while women’s tennis posted its third-straight and 10th overall perfect score, men’s tennis its sixth, men’s cross country its fifth and women’s basketball its first.

Among the nine programs to post perfect single-year APR scores for 2022-23 were men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s soccer, men’s tennis, softball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s golf, and women’s tennis. Meanwhile, the softball program (990) led by head coach Ken Eriksen continued a streak of a 990 or better multi-year score in every report since the NCAA began reporting APR in 2004-05.

USF Athletics saw all 18 men’s and women’s programs post a spring term grade-point average over 3.0 for just the second time on record as the Bulls extended their record streak of an overall department GPA over 3.0 to 19 consecutive semesters and nine years (since the spring of 2015) after the recently completed 2023 spring term.

USF saw 336 student-athletes earn Athletics Honor Roll recognition following the spring semester and 17 of 18 programs post a cumulative GPA over 3.0. The overall cumulative GPA for Athletics continued to move upward, checking in at 3.27 after a 3.23 in the fall and a 3.18 last spring. The Bulls saw 62 student-athletes graduate in the spring following 26 that did so in the fall.
