So yesterday, Tom Allen and the defense spent extra time working together after the practice had concluded yesterday. I love that. It's a bye week and Allen still demanded that this happen. He's holding the players accountable and getting the extra work in since they messed up so badly in the Maryland game. It could have been very easy to just go on about their way and practice the regular hours so I love to see this. What I'm hoping for is the attention to detail and that we will improve to what we saw during our first two games from our defense.
There was a players' meeting either yesterday or the day before. Sometimes when you hear about these things, it's usually not for good or nothing good comes out of them...or that the program is in flux. I, on this particular take, think it's a good thing and see it as something that needed to happen. Leadership needed to come in and shake these guys up after that last performance and there are PLENTY of players that need to be held accountable and the list could be long. I'm really hoping that this meeting really got into the mind of the players who were half assing it last game and it changes their mindset on things going forward this season. Conference play is upon us so now is the time to nut up or shut up.
