Who can fault CWT for leaving ? The Oregon job will pay him $4,000,000 a year vs half that amount at USF. He has just secured his family's future for life. The old saying "Money talks and bullshit walks" is true you know.
The man did right by USF. He came in and took a program gasping it's last breath and resuscitated it. Everyone on this board knows that story. We, who bleed green and gold, hate losing him now. But just a couple of years ago a lot of us were ready to hang him from the yardarms. Today everyone wants instant gratification.
The best way to keep this team together is to hire Charley Strong and hope he keeps TJ Weist as OC. But I have heard it is not to Strong's advantage to take a job this year because it would affect the UT buyout money. So where do we go from here ? I don't have a clue, but that's just as well, because I don't have a voice in the hire.
USF's president, AD and board of directors will make the call. Let's just hope they get it right.
Thank you coach Taggart for putting this program on solid footing and congratulations on your new job. You earned it.
