This morning I was at Tampa Prep for Team Breakdown's practice for their 17U and 16U teams. Missing from the practice were 2017 Wing L.J. Figueroa who took advantage of Spring Break to go up to Massachusetts to visit family. And 2016 big man Jhonatan Araujo had a recent death in his family and didn't travel up to Tampa from South Florida.

Even without those two players there, Team Breakdown looks formidable. The 17U team has three guards that will be difficult for any team to contain all three in one game:

2017 PG Andres Feliz
2016 CG Eric Hester (USF offer)
2016 Jhery Matos (USF offer)

Mix in 2016 Dewan Huell (USF offer) at PF and Araujo (USF offer) and you've got a starting lineup of five D1 players. Or they could go bigger with 2016 Troy Baxter (USF offer)

They're able to bring explosive 2016 wing Herman Williams (2016) off the bench and 6-foot-8 2016 PF/C Dontay Bassett off the bench. Williams has been out with a torn meniscus since late Dec/early Jan but told me that he was cleared to begin running on Monday.

The 16s have a nice PG in Anfernee Simons from Orlando Edgewater HS and a nice PF/C in Darrion Fluker who has a knack for rebounding. Fluker has motor issues but that's not too uncommon for sophomore big men. Plus, the Breakdown coaches really worked their teams hard this morning.

I'll see them again next week at the annual Travel Team Jamboree next weekend in Lakeland.
