Born and raised panhandle guy and lifelong Auburn fan here (happens when everyone in the fam went)
I was aware of USF after 2007 (broke my 11 year old heart in that auburn game) and i remember small stretches where USF was a good team knocking off blueblood programs, can anyone explain why the administration didn’t capitalize on the success of the late 2000s, i really feel like that was a golden opportunity to take control of the middle of the state and compete against the miamis, UFs and FSUs consistently year in and year out. Did they just fumble the opportunity, not care, focused on other things? I really like where the program is headed under the new coach and investments being made, I was just curious about what happened back then. USF is set up for success i think with the right planning, leadership and support they can become a competitive P5 program. You can’t beat the geography, it’s so prime for recruiting, that’s for sure. I’ll be posting other questions to help get me up to speed with the ins and outs of the program.
