we've long spoke about the fact UF loaded up on some relatively marginal talent early on and have been trying to get back with the top dogs late in the game. We all thought perhaps there could be as many as 3-5 kids falling out of that class and we could be the benefactors of some of that dissent. Well it appears to me now that UF recruiting is a MESS!
The fired Kirk Callahan for his issues recruiting, but McIllwain doesn't appear to be the closer that Muschump, Meyers, and Zook were/are either. There are more kids leaving Gainesville uncommitted then I've ever seen before. They're striking out right and left...and it looks like they'll be holding on to Wells for dear life because they may not get anymore elite talent-- they're hoping for that Houston commit Cleveland, but there is serious comp there too.
To bad, but maybe Michigan will help us out. The UF mess in recruiting is ugly....like I said a week ago UF fans may find out in 2-3 years they didn't really get what the bargained for at HC. He looked good with all of Muschump's talent, but UF really struggled closing on top end talent this year. Things may change by signing day but it doesn't look like it. Thank goodness for them Clayton got upgraded to five star or it could have been the first time in 12 years that UF didn't sign at least one of those.
