Ken Niumatalolo is one hell of a great coach. He has an offensive system that just reloads. They lose record breaking QB Keenan Reynolds and Super FB Chris Swain to graduation and everyone thinks things will get easier for midshipmen opponents. Enter QB Will Worth and FB Chris High and the beat goes on. Junior Chris High 6'0" 224 lb FB is quite a bit smaller than the 250 lb Swain, but also a lot faster. Going into the game High was the Middies leading rusher at 8.2 yards a clip. He left the game with a leg injury in the first quarter with 2 carries for 25 yards and a 12 yard TD run. Enter 6'1" 255 lb SR FB Shawn White and he carries 10 times for 38 yards. Not as healthy an average as High, but White's 3.8 ypc moves the chains. The outside running game took up the slack and Worth was 3-5 passing for 76 yard and 2 TDs plus he ran for 115 and a TD. OUCH !!!! The Cougars probably weren't expecting that.
Navy thinks every game is a home game no matter whether it's played in Memphis or Tampa. These guys are the ultimate warriors and they play like a team for 60 minutes. What they lack in size, they make up for in technique and want to. Right now the Middies look like the team to beat in the American.
