Felt like looking through the record book to see what might fall this year- obviously Cronkrite and Terrence Horne have set new records, but some others might fall as well.
Career Receiving Yards- Tyre is 4th at 1,625. Dre is first at 2,136. Pretty good chance.
Career Receiving TDs- Tyre is 3rd with 15. Dre is first with 17, Rodney has 16. Should happen.
Career Receptions-Tyre is 10th with 102. Will likely pass Charlie Jackson and Carlton Mitchell this week, and if he gets six catches, he'll pass Bogan and Hester. Dre is again in first with 153, so that's almost certainly not happening.
Single season receptions- Tyre has 34. The record is Rodney with 67. Could certainly happen, especially if we get 14 games.
Single season receiving yards is MVS' 879. We have a gaggle of four between 300 and 400 yards this year (and no one else over 50, but that's a discussion for a different thread), so while it's conceivable that someone could have a few monster games, I think the targets are too evenly distributed among that group to break the record (unless we play 14).
Tight end receiving records- Wilcox is on pace to obliterate every tight end record in school history except TDs, and even that's not a high bar. The single season yardage record is 390- he's at 311 right now. The catch record in a season is 34, so Wilcox needs a little more time for that one, but it should fall easily as well. Sean Price's 5 receiving TDs might last the year, but one big game could change that.
Single season rushing yards- Cronk has a Boeing right now- 757. Q has the record at 1530, so Cronk is actually basically on pace despite missing a game. Mack's 1,381 is second place, so there's a lot of room for Cronk to end up in second. QF and Mack share the record of 5 consecutive 100 yard games- Cronk has four right now.
Single season yards per game- Cronk's 151.4 would easily beat Andre Hall's record of 123.4. Note- Cronk's two game total is not the USF record- Dyral McMillan had 479 over two games. Neither is his three game total of 582- Andre Hall had 591 over three games.
Single season completions- BB has 114 right now. The record is MB with 258, so he's a little behind pace, but that could change with two big games.
Single season passing yards- BB is at 1550 right now, which is on pace to beat the shared records of QB and MG of 2,911. TDs are probably safe unless things change in a big way.
Single season total offense- BB is currently at 1694. QF's 4,342 is the record, so I think it's safe unless Gilbert remembers you're allowed to pass on first downs these days.
Single season tackles- McGee fell off the pace against UMass, but he has 54 so far. The record is T-Mac's 121.
Single season PBUs- Hampton has 8 so far. It's an unreliable stat, but the record is Bernard Brown with 18. Hampton's 4 against ECU is second most in a game, although I'm pretty sure he had more than that.
It doesn't look like we keep track of season records for team TFLs, but with 53 so far, you'd have to think we're pace for some kind of record there.
Anyways, I probably had something more important to do, but I like keeping track of these things. It's not like in the last few years with QF, Mack, Rodney, DJ, and Auggie breaking every record in sight, but Tyre in particular has a chance to get on top of a lot of records. If we play 14, a whole host of records might be in danger.
Finally, for my favorite record, which does not appear to be kept: as far as I can tell, with the win last week, Tyre McCants was on the field for his 35th win, which is almost certainly the program record for any one player. Tyre has played in 44 games, while McGee and Hoggins have 42 and Wilkins has 41 and K Bronson has 39 (and Shene has 37), so unless the only games those guys missed were losses, it's almost certainly Tyre's record.
