Here is a summary of today's Jeff Scott Zoom Update. A video of the full Zoom meeting will be posted soon.
Opening Statement...
Today we had one of the best practices that we have since I've been here high energy, we finished with a overtime situation where we split up the offense and defense into two teams and ended up going into triple overtime and just great energy and intensity and was definitely our best practice of the week and best practices since I've been here. Tony Dungy came to speak to our team this morning and did an excellent job and really had a nice relatable story about his first year with the Bucs.
You know, just a roster update, Nick Roberts is no longer with us. There are some things that happen. Unfortunately, Friday gets tossed up on the sidelines that were unacceptable and really did not meet our, our standards. And, you know, I met with Nick Monday morning to really kind of discuss things that went on Friday, and it became pretty evident early in that conversation, that it would be best for Nick and for our program to, for him to move on. So we wish him the best.
On what happened on the field with Nick Roberts...
I'm not going to get into the exact details of everything, but I will say this. It was not due to his play on the field. After the extra point there was some trash talking that was going on between him and somebody else on the other side, and so I met him at the numbers and told him that that's not who we are. That's not who we're gonna be. We're not gonna talk trash and he did not respond the right way to me and that's why he was benched for the remainder of the game.
On Cade Fortin's injury status...
He has not practiced this week, but our trainers, feel there's a chance that he could get back next week, which would be great. But he has not thrown a ball yet. But there is optimism that he could be back next week or hopefully for sure the week after that. So that's really all that I have of it. It's not a situation that's gonna require surgery. And it's not a situation where we feel like he's gonna be out, you know, more than the next seven or 10 days at most. That's at least the prognosis we have at this time.
On what's been the one thing that he's needed to reevaluate in this this open week...
Well, there's been a lot of things as coaches offensively defensively and special teams we've gotten and I've had some of our defensive analysts, you know, and watch our offense and kind of do some critiques to report to our offensive staff. And about same thing offensive analysts watch the defense and they're looking for tendencies and things like that, that you would look at.
On having Tony Dungy address the team for a second time...
It's incredible and that's another advantage I put to us being in Tampa, Florida, is we get to be in the same city as Tony Dungy. When he was here previously, before Notre Dame, he was really here as an analyst, because he did the Notre Dame games, and he didn't really have an opportunity to speak to our guys then. I could not have expected anything better than in the message he gave our team this morning.
On how the quarterback reps were split up this week...
It was probably the same as what we've been doing the last few weeks, whoever we have as our number one and number two, and with Cade out right now, you know, I would say Jordan no are kind of going back and forth with the ones on the twos. And we're kind of evaluating them every day. And we'll continue to do that. And we'll make a decision as we get closer to the middle of next week.
