SMU can score points on just about any team, they lack depth and they get worn down in the second half. Houston looks unbeatable at this point and their schedule is very much in their favor. The Cougars have away games at Tulane, UCF and UCONN (all winnable). They have home games with Vandy, Cincy, Memphis and Navy. The toughest part of their schedule is at home and their fans are fanatical to say the least.
Houston has the most seasoned team in the conference. Both los are big and nasty. Greg Ward Jr is an exceptional QB. You really can't break them down to having RBs and receivers because all their receivers are RBs and all their RBs are receivers. Kenneth Farrow 5'10" 220 lbs is the bell cow and he is a load to bring down, he has excellent body lean and a low center of gravity. their "WRs" are really RBs once they catch the ball. Ayers is their deep threat while Allen and Dunbar have the size to run over DBs and both look tough to tackle. The Cougar defense is big and solid led by 3 Sr DTs, an athletic defensive backfield and the possible AAC defensive player of the year in Steven Taylor at OLB. Taylor has 41 tackles and 8 sacks through 5 games. In my mind, Cincy and Navy are the biggest test for Houston. Cincy because they match up to Houston athletically, size wise and experience wise. Navy because stopping their offense is a task. Memphis lacks the experience and the size on defense to match up to Houston and will break down in the second half. The only scenario I can see Memphis beat Houston is if Lynch has a fantastic start and jumps ahead early by 3 or 4 TDs. Even with that the Cougars have shown the ability to come from behind.
GO BULLS !!!!!
