UCONN's Bob Diaco said "You have to take advantage of every possession you get, because with Navy, you won't get that many possessions." Navy had the ball 65% of the time to USF's 35%. 39.13 mins for the Middies and 20.47 mins for USF. OUCH !!!

The three mistakes that may have cost us the game were 1. Taking 3 points off the board. I'm a believer you never take points off the board. If we take a 20-16 lead and Navy scores a TD (which they did), we can come back and gain the lead with a FG. 2. Navy scores and goes up 22-17 so now we have to have a TD to win. Rodney Adams runs the ensuing kick off back 41 yards (which would have been great field position) and loses a fumble. I kind of feel sorry for Rodney because he was trying to get extra yards and the Navy defender put his helmet right on the ball and knocked it loose. Sometimes you have to take what the defense gives you and get down to the ground fast. Navy moves the ball and scores a TD to go up 29-17. GAME OVER !!!! Without that fumble we could have won the game. 3. Down 22-17 the Bulls stopped Navy to bring up a 4th down, when Johnny Ward got selfish and got a 15 yard penalty that gave Navy new life and they went on to score and put the game out of reach @ 29-17. Thank you Johnny !!!! I hope your big mouth was worth it to you !!!!!!

Our defense was on the field far too long. Navy rushed for 428 yards @ 6.2 per clip. USF rushed for 62 yards @ 2.6 per clip. Swain did us in more than any other player, rushing 23/131 @ 5.7 a clip. Reynolds was magnificent going 26/117 @ 4.5 a clip and Dishone Romine was 6/115 @ 19.2 a clip. Navy only had 16 yds passing. They didn't need to pass it. Like Woody Hayes used to say "Three things can happen when you pass and two of them are bad."

Navy just wore our defense out. I guess we just couldn't get our running game going. Reynolds is tied with Monty Ball for most rushing TDs all time @ 77. He has 5 games left to play, he'll set a new record that will be there for a long time to come. We lost to a superior foe today. The thing that kills us all is we could have beat them if we hadn't beat ourselves with 3 bad plays. You can't give a team as good as Navy those cheap advantages. Just what we talked about before the game protect the ball and no personal fouls. We didn't mention "NEVER TAKE POINTS OFF THE BOARD" but it came on to bite us, as we have all seen by watching football for all these years. It's a maxim never to take points off the board.

I would like to get Dr Pepper's Larry Culpepper to give us an opinion on the game !!! LOL !!!!

GO BULLS !!!!!
