They won the American championship today. Great seeing all of the seniors going out like this. Cid wins MVP...of course. Nice play from a lot of guys. They did great and had one hell of a season. I've been following them all season. They were pretty consistently ranked between 10-20 in the nation and Cid took down some giants. I believe he finished top 6 individually. Best USF tennis player to play here. The AAC has been around for 3 years now and the Bulls have taken every single conference title in men's tennis since it's creation.
Also didn't want to finish this post without mentioning Women's tennis. They did great and had one hell of a season too. They reached an 11 game win streak through the season and finished 17-7. They did extremely well in the AAC tourney winning easily against Cincinnati and SMU to advance to the finals but Tulsa ended up beating us for the title. Makes sense. Tulsa was ranked 30th in the country and our girls didn't do too well against teams ranked as such this year. And I don't think it was that close. Tulsa seemed to take it pretty easily IMO. But still, runner up isn't too bad.
Not a bad year for Coach Cristina Moros. This was her first year as a coach for our USF women's tennis team and I think she did very well. Just another very nice hire done by Harlan. So far. I don't think our Bulls had hit a drought when it came to good play because we were only like two years removed from some really good play but hopefully Moros keeps us there.
