...Tyrese Williams of Tampa Bay Tech.
Williams helped lead the 8A school to a 23-1 record with their only loss coming to St. Petersburg HS in the regional semifinals -- Williams had 16 points in that loss despite foul trouble. Williams is a long, thin and bouncy athlete who will contest shots and excels in transition.
Playing with Showtime Ballers on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit, Williams has been used as a reserve. Through seven games in the first two sessions of the Adidas Gauntlet he made 59.1 percent of his field goals (13 of 22). All but one of his shots have come at or near the basket as the shot chart below shows.
I saw him at the Hoop Exchange Spring Showcase in late February/early March and thought that he looked comfortable handling the ball when not tightly guarded. In half court situations he can use his feet pretty well, making spin moves for jump shots in the lane and he can knock down an open shots out to 15-feet. IIRC he hit a corner three in one game.
I haven't spoken with Williams or anyone connected with him to find out what level of interest he is receiving from the Bulls but he’s definitely a local name to keep in mind. Especially since Tampa Bay Tech is about a 12 minute drive from USF.
