Senior guard averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds

TAMPA, FEB. 23, 2015 - Senior guard Corey Allen Jr. averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds and was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll on Monday.

The St. Louis native scored nine points and had six rebounds in helping USF to a 69-67 win over Houston last Tuesday. He then scored 28 points, including 25 in the second half, and tied a season high with eight rebounds in USF's 73-60 loss at East Carolina on Saturday. Allen Jr. was 4-of-9 from 3-point range in the game and made all eight free throw attempts.

It was Allen Jr.'s third award of the year after being named the conference's player of the week on Dec. 1 and to the honor roll on Feb. 9. He was joined on the honor roll this week by Gary Clark (Cincinnati), Amida Brimah (UConn), Nic Moore (SMU) and James Woodard (Tulsa). Memphis' Austin Nichols was named the player of the week while Daniel Hamilton was the rookie of the week.

The Bulls are 8-20 (2-13) this season and are the second youngest team in the country. USF plays at Houston on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. USF has signed three players for next season including two four-star recruits and will have former five-star guard Roddy Peters eligible next season after redshirting this year. Orlando Antigua is in his first season as head coach after spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Kentucky.
