The AAC appears to be ESPN’s lab rat this bowl season. There are some interesting match ups and they begin on Saturday December 17 with the Las Vegas Bowl and end 12 days later with the Birmingham Bowl on Thursday December 29th. The seven AAC bowl teams will meet 2 teams from CUSA and 1 team each from the Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt, ACC and SEC. ESPN broadcasts all AAC bowl games except the UCF game which is broadcast by CBSSN.

Thursday December 29
USF (10-2) (7-1) vs South Carolina (6-6) (3-5) Birmingham Bowl 2:00 PM ESPN
Houston, Temple and USF enter their games without their HCs all of which moved on to a P5 job. Those 3 teams along with Memphis face the stiffest competition in their bowl match ups.
Houston finished tied for 3rd in the AAC west faces a tough game with Mountain West Champ San Diego State. Houston’s coaching staff is in tact sans HC Tom Hermann. This game should be a shootout. A Houston win would be huge for the AAC.
AAC Champ Temple sans HC Matt Rhule meets middle of the pack ACC foe Wake Forest. A win over a P5 school would be huge for the AAC.
USF finished tied for 1st in the AAC east meets SEC middle of the pack South Carolina Gamecoacks. A P5 victory would give USF their 1st 11 win season.
Memphis finished tied for 3rd in the AAC west meets CUSA Champ WKU sans HC Jeff Broham. Shoot out, but Memphis may have a defensive edge.
